Whether or not we like these virtual platforms, they undoubtedly play an important role in our current lives. They facilitate catching up with friends and family, conversing with colleagues, and even help us stay up to date on current news and events happening around the globe. More than half of the world’s population is signed up on a least one social media platform!
Novelties on your favorite platforms
Facebook is now getting involved in the music industry, Instagram is promoting their Reels more than ever, Twitter now allows you to identify people on pictures and you’re now able to post videos in HDR on YouTube. We can expect that several other novelties will be unveiled during this new year!
With the growth and popularity of social networks on the rise, more and more businesses are turning to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and even TikTok to showcase their expertise and their products/services. It’s a quick and highly effective way to get your company known compared to traditional medias such as publishing an ad in a newspaper. These social networks also use artificial intelligence which is a powerful asset that can help you generate new business.
In order to be better prepared for 2021, we have put together some tips and tricks to help you use social media more effectively!
Tips and Tricks
- To engage your audience, you need to generate content. But not just any kind of content! You need to provide a clear message that will reach your target audience. Rather than publishing a post that you think will be generally liked, we recommend that you post targeted content designed to engage your specific audience. Your goal is to sell your product to the right people, and to avoid spending your time and resources on the wrong audience.
- Adding pictures is always a good idea, particularly on visual platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Keep in mind that you need to respect a few guidelines to ensure that a picture is optimized for these platforms. The resolution, the colors, the format, the size of the font on the image, and many other aspects are key points that you need to take into consideration before publishing. If you’re posting something on Twitter, opt for a short text with a kick by adding exclamation points or emojis. Be careful when it comes to emojis, you don’t want to drown out your message with these either.
- If you’re a natural in front of the camera (or in front of your phone), you can record a short video where you showcase your business. You’ll once again want to take into consideration your camera movements, resolution and colors. If your goal is to present your business, it would be a shame to see you speaking in front of a white wall where viewers can’t see your business space. And keep in mind that moving too quickly or too often can give your viewers a headache and won’t give them the desire to continue watching.
You don’t need to be a marketing expert to improve your visibility on social media. But you do need to be conscious that once you publish content, you must continuously visit your pages to maintain a presence within your community. It’s necessary to engage on your pages by answering comments and to mitigate any problems such as trolls that could damage your business.
